MWANZA: RESEARCHERS in the country have been urged to conduct impactful studies and ensure their findings reach the public to help address community challenges and stimulate national economic growth.

The call was made yesterday in Mwanza by the Internal Auditor General, Benjamin Magai, during the launch of the 4th International Conference on business management and economic development, organised by the Tanzania Institute of Accountancy (TIA).

Mr Magai stressed the need for research that produces practical outcomes that policymakers and stakeholders can apply to advance social and economic development in line with global trends.

TIA Chief Executive Officer, Professor William Pallangyo, said the conference has brought together researchers, scholars, and stakeholders from within and outside the country. He noted that the annual gathering reflects TIA’s continued commitment to strengthening research, training, and professional consultancy since the conferences began in 2022.

This year’s conference theme is Innovation, Creativity, and Business for a Sustainable Economy.

Prof Pallangyo said that after the presentation of research papers, TIA will prepare a special publication containing expert recommendations on how to address identified challenges.

The publication will be shared with the government and development partners to ensure research output is put into effective use.

A member of TIA’s Ministerial Advisory Board, Professor Goodluck Urasa, commended the institution for its efforts in advancing research. He said the conference offers participants an opportunity to learn from international experts while creating a platform for the public, stakeholders, and the government to benefit from shared knowledge.

Prof Urasa added that the conference complements the government’s agenda of promoting practical solutions to existing challenges, noting that research outputs will be packaged in policy-friendly formats to support entrepreneurs and economic growth.
