DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting taxpayers and fostering voluntary compliance during a high-level meeting with Barrick Gold Mine.

TRA Commissioner General, Mr Yusuph Juma Mwenda, met with Barrick officials at TRA offices in Dar es Salaam to discuss ways of enhancing collaboration and addressing tax-related challenges. The Barrick team was led by Resident Manager, Mr Melkiory Ngido.

Commissioner General Mwenda highlighted that TRA aims to create a business-friendly environment where all companies can meet their tax obligations smoothly, contributing to national development

“We are committed to working closely with taxpayers like Barrick to resolve challenges and strengthen partnerships,” he said.

Mr Ngido, speaking on behalf of Barrick, acknowledged TRA’s proactive support and responsiveness. He pledged that the company will continue paying taxes voluntarily while cooperating fully with the authority.

The meeting underscores TRA’s broader strategy to engage with major and emerging taxpayers, ensuring transparency, timely payments, and compliance with the law.
