DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA will host the African Antimicrobial Resistance Conference to be held from December 2 to 6, 2025, in Dar es Salaam, aiming to discuss the status of resistance in Africa, research, and ways to tackle the problem.

Speaking to Dailynews Digital, the Vice Chairperson of the Tanzania Pharmacists Association, Mary Kisima, said that in a move to control antimicrobial resistance, Tanzania expects to host the conference, which will bring together experts from the African continent to discuss and develop strategies to tackle the problem.

She said that the Antimicrobial Resistance Week began to be celebrated from 18 to 24, although the conference will be held in December.

“Society needs to understand that you can infect your partner with resistant pathogens, for example, you go to the hospital and are tested for antibiotic resistance, although not all of them can infect your partner through the environment.
