NGORONGORO: LEADING tourism agents from the United Kingdom are in Tanzania touring its iconic national parks, wildlife reserves and scenic landscapes with the aim of showcasing the country’s unique attractions, exploring investment opportunities and strengthening its presence in the European tourism market.
Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr Ashatu Kijaji, assured the tourists that Tanzania remains a peaceful and welcoming destination to all visitors across the world. The Minister was speaking after meeting international tourists at the Ngorongoro Conservation Area entrance (Loduare Gate) during an inspection tour of tourism activities in the area.
She was accompanied by the Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Mr Hamad Chande, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Hassan Abbasi, and the Conservation Commissioner for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Mr Abdul-Razaq Badru.
The leader of the UK tourism delegation, Debbie Mayger, arrived with her team at the Ngorongoro Conservation Area yesterday, saying they came to Tanzania to experience its wealth of tourist attractions, cultural heritage, wildlife, landscapes, conservation efforts and coastal sites, as well as its customs and traditions.
“We have heard so much about Tanzania. There is strong interest in wildlife tourism, the Ngorongoro Crater, world heritage sites, the Ngorongoro Lengai Geopark, local cultures, environmental conservation, hospitality and the peaceful environment,” said Mayger.
She added: “This visit gives us firsthand experience to better promote Tanzania and we hope to attract even more visitors from the European market.”
Receiving the delegation, NCAA Senior Marketing Officer Michael Makombe said the visit reflects the government’s ongoing efforts through the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, conservation institutions and tourism stakeholders to showcase Tanzania’s rich tourism offerings.
