DAR ES SALAAM: THE Chief Executive Officer of the Dar es Salaam Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (DAWASA), Engineer Mkama Bwire, has urged residents to develop a culture of conserving water whenever it is available and to use it responsibly.
Engineer Bwire made the call during his inspection tour to assess the status of water service availability in various areas of Kinondoni District in Dar es Salaam, particularly in Mwananyamala Ward. During the inspection, he observed residents continuing to receive water services in accordance with the water rationing schedule issued by the authority.
Speaking during the inspection, Engineer Bwire said DAWASA’s main objective is to ensure that residents receive water services as outlined in the established schedule, while also making sure that the water reaches customers directly in their homes.
“Our main priority is to ensure that residents receive water according to the schedule, and also to move through neighborhoods to ensure that the water reaches customers in their homes,” said Engineer Bwire.
Meanwhile, a Mwananyamala resident, Miriam Ally, commended DAWASA for providing timely information regarding the challenges of water shortages, as well as issuing a schedule indicating the days and times each area receives water services.

She stated that in their area, residents receive water services twice a week, on Sundays and Wednesdays, which has helped them prepare in advance.
“We are grateful that in our area we receive water services twice a week on Sundays and Wednesdays. Although we understand the current water challenges, this schedule has helped us be prepared and informed on when to expect the service. We ask that the schedule be adhered to in order to avoid complaints,” said Miriam.
During the visit, in addition to inspecting water services, DAWASA also provided education to Mwananyamala residents on the importance of water conservation and awareness of water supply schedules in their areas.
