RC tips graduates to tap opportunitiesRC tips graduates to tap opportunities

DODOMA: DODOMA Regional Commissioner Rosemary Senyamule has said the government has created a conducive environment for self-employment, citing continued improvements in infrastructure and education aimed at enabling graduates to tap into available economic opportunities.

Ms Senyamule made the remarks while officiating at the 60th graduation ceremony of the College of Business Education (CBE), Dodoma Campus, where she awarded certificates to 2,086 graduates from the class of 2025.

At the colourful event held at the Jakaya Kikwete Convention Centre in the capital city, the regional boss said the Sixth Phase Government has, within a short period, improved and strengthened both university and middle-level education to enable graduates to compete effectively in the open labour market, while also increasing the number of skilled professionals capable of addressing various national challenges.

“We are optimistic that all these efforts will increase the number of Tanzanians who can provide solutions to their own challenges, those of their communities and the nation at large. This will also enhance competition in the labour market, especially among university graduates, who can seek employment anywhere depending on their qualifications and capabilities,” she said.

The regional commissioner further explained that due to limited formal employment opportunities, the government has deliberately created a supportive environment for self-employment by improving key infrastructure, including roads, the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) and electricity supply to all villages.

According to RC Senyamule, such investments provide wide-ranging employment opportunities through various economic activities.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of the CBE Governing Board, Prof Zakaria Mganilwa, said the board’s core responsibility is to ensure strong accountability systems for both lecturers and students in order to achieve the institution’s goal of producing competent business professionals who can serve both locally and internationally.

On her part, CBE Rector Prof Edda Lwoga said that since its establishment on January 21, 1965, by the late Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, the institution has maintained high standards in business education.

She added that the college continues to introduce new curricula in line with market demands to produce highly skilled professionals in the sector.

Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Ms Irene Mtui said the knowledge she acquired at the college would support her professional activities.

She urged fellow graduates to heed the guest of honour’s advice by utilising available self-employment opportunities, particularly in Dodoma Region, so that their skills are put to productive use.

The CBE was established in 1965 under the Act of Parliament No 31 of 1965 and currently operates under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
