Safeguard peace, PM tells TanzaniansSafeguard peace, PM tells Tanzanians

MBEYA: PRIME Minister Dr Mwigulu Nchemba has urged Tanzanians, particularly the youth, to remain vigilant and not allow themselves to be exploited by individuals with ill intentions aiming to destabilise the country.

Dr Nchemba stressed that without peace, development cannot thrive, calling on all citizens to be cautious of those inciting violence to disrupt stability and negatively affect economic and social activities.

The Premier made the remarks yesterday while addressing residents of Kiwira in Mbeya Region during an official visit to assess public infrastructure and private properties affected by the violence that occurred on October 29 this year.

“We understand that they target our resources. Tanzania is rich in resources in Africa, and they know that to access them, they must first destabilise our people. Do not accept this. Our peace is everything. We must continue working together to safeguard it,” Dr Nchemba said.

He also called on public servants to diligently serve citizens, particularly in remote areas, by listening to their concerns and working together to resolve local challenges.

In addition, the Prime Minister urged officials in the health sector to ensure that facilities across the country are adequately stocked with medicines.

He stressed the importance of conducting proper assessments to procure drugs based on the specific needs of each area.

Dr Nchemba underscored the significance of work diligence, accountability in leadership and respect for the private sector.

He instructed Ministers, Members of Parliament and local leaders to fulfill their responsibilities responsibly and urged regulatory authorities to support businesses, including small-scale traders, as part of efforts to eradicate poverty.

The Premier encouraged government officials to actively engage with communities undertaking projects such as classrooms and health centres, highlighting the need for regular monitoring and support.

In a separate directive, he tasked the Ministry of Works with reviewing contractor payments to ensure funds are disbursed only for completed work and addressing concerns over contractors who received payments without fulfilling their commitments.

Dr Nchemba assured Mbeya residents that pledges made during President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s visits, as well as commitments outlined in the National Development Vision 2050 and the CCM Manifesto 2025–2030, will be fulfilled.

He noted that several initiatives, including compensation related to the fourlane bypass road project, are already underway.

Prior to addressing the public, Dr Nchemba inspected the Kyela Township Authority buildings and the One Stop Border Post–Kasumulu offices, both of which were affected by the violence on October 29, 2025.
