KIBAHA: THE feasibility study for route selection for the construction of the high-pressure Kinyerezi– Chalinze natural gas transmission pipeline, which aims, among other objectives, to fulfil the government’s ambition of making Coast Region the country’s industrial hub, has been completed.
The new development was revealed by Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) Director General, Mr Mussa Makame, when he and his team presented the project report to Coast Regional Commissioner, Mr Abubakar Kunenge recently.
Mr Makame said the project will be implemented under the supervision of the Tanzania National Electric Supply Company (TANESCO).
Providing details, Eng Angelindile Marandu said the project is expected to cost a total of 2.3bn/-, with construction activities to be carried out by Gulf Interstate Engineering in collaboration with Paulsam Geo-Engineering Company Limited.

He added that the project is expected to be completed within 15 months after the signing of the project contract.
For his part, RC Kunenge said the project forms part of the government’s efforts to position the Coast Region as a centre for strategic economic projects in the country.
“This project will act as a catalyst for increased investment activities, particularly in the industrial sector, which will boost production and expand the region’s income,” he said.
