DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) has called on women golfers across the country to participate in its upcoming leadership election by collecting nomination forms ahead of the 2026 General Election.
In a statement issued yesterday in Dar es Salaam, TLGU extended seasonal greetings to all female golfers and encouraged them to fully engage in the upcoming election for the 2026–2028 leadership terms.
The announcement follows a notice from the National Sports Council (NSC), which released the full election timetable and outlined requirements for prospective candidates.
According to the NSC’s Acting Public Relations and Communications Officer, Hannah Kassimoto, the TLGU election is scheduled to take place on January 10th, 2026, in Dar es Salaam. As the election period approaches, outgoing TLGU President Queen Siraki urged eligible women to take an active role in the process.
“TLGU would like to remind and encourage all women interested in serving in leadership positions within the Union to participate fully in the electoral process,” Siraki said.

“Eligible candidates are advised to collect their nomination forms early to ensure smooth and timely participation.” She emphasised that women’s involvement in leadership is crucial to the growth and development of golf and to strengthening the union.
“TLGU strongly encourages all qualified and passionate members to step forward and contribute their skills, ideas and commitment to the future of women’s golf in Tanzania,” she added.
Nomination forms are available from December 10th, 2025, to January 5th, 2026, at the NSC offices located at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, as well as on the Council’s official website. The leadership positions open for election include president, vicepresident, honorary secretary, honorary treasurer, competition secretary and handicap secretary.
Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of 50,000/- through the government payment system. The NSC outlined eligibility requirements, stating that candidates must be Tanzanian citizens aged 25 years or older, possess at least a secondary education and have a minimum of two years of experience in golf administration.
Candidates must also demonstrate adequate knowledge of golf rules and show prior involvement in the sport as players, coaches, referees, leaders or club administrators. Copies of all supporting documents must accompany completed nomination forms. “Together, let us shape the future of women’s golf,” Siraki said.
