LINDI: LINDI region has been hailed for effective monitoring of road safety campaigns during the ongoing festive season.

The Tanzanian Head of the Road Safety Education Desk, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Matibu Mbunja, accompanied by the Chief Legal Officer of the Tanzania Traffic Police, Superintendent of Police (SP) Mussa Manyama, together with officers of various ranks from the Force Headquarters in Dodoma, has conducted an end-of-year inspection of the Traffic Police Unit in Lindi Region.

During the inspection, SSP Mbunja commended the Lindi Regional Traffic Police Commander, Superintendent of Police (SP) James Makumu, for carrying out his duties professionally and with high efficiency. He expressed satisfaction with the effective monitoring of speeding vehicles, proper record keeping, and the legal measures taken against drivers who violate traffic laws.

SSP Mbunja also praised SP Makumu for his efforts in providing road safety education to drivers, passengers, and other road users. Additionally, he addressed officers of the unit, encouraging them to continue performing their duties diligently, with integrity, and in strict adherence to laws and work procedures.

Meanwhile, the Chief Legal Officer of the Tanzania Traffic Police, SP Mussa Manyama, urged officers conducting vehicle inspections at the Nangurukuru checkpoint to always observe the law while carrying out their duties, without unfairly targeting or favoring anyone.

He emphasized adherence to the Police Force motto, which states, “Discipline, Justice, Professionalism and Integrity are the Foundation of Our Success,” and concluded with the slogan, “A Tanzania Without Accidents… Is Possible
