DAR ES SALAAM: The Tanzania Standard Newspapers (TSN) has held discussions with a delegation from Viory Video Network, based in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, aimed at strengthening cooperation in the fight against misinformation, particularly across digital platforms.

The discussions took place today, February 10, 2026, at TSN Headquarters in Dar es Salaam. During the meeting, both parties agreed to collaborate on the exchange of core news production content and verified news video, the establishment of joint digital journalism projects, and the implementation of capacity-building programs to enhance skills in video production, fact-checking, and ethical journalism.

Speaking at the meeting, TSN Chief Executive Officer Asha Dachi said that in addition to these agreements, the two sides also committed to sharing professional experience, especially in newsroom operations within the media industry.

“We met to exchange experience and discuss effective ways of combating misinformation in order to strengthen digital content. This is an important opportunity for TSN, as we have agreed on fundamental principles to address misinformation, much of which originates from outside the country. Through this partnership, we will be able to tell our stories from a Tanzanian perspective and contribute to national development,” said Dachi.

She added that the collaboration will not only strengthen TSN’s content but also enhance the institution’s capacity to deliver impactful development narratives to local, regional, and international audiences.

“We are ready to collaborate in digital innovation, content distribution, and the effective use of online platforms, provided that these initiatives align with our public service mandate and fully respect our editorial independence,” she emphasized.

Dachi noted that through the partnership, TSN will benefit from Viory’s international experience, particularly in the application of global best practices, well-structured communication systems, and development-oriented journalism focused on investment and innovation.

On his part, Viory Video Network’s Africa Representative, Alexander Kobia, said the main objective of their visit was to seek strategic cooperation as an international video news network and to exchange content to ensure Tanzanian stories reach global audiences.

obally in the same way that stories from other like-minded countries are told here in Tanzania. Viory focuses on countries of the Global South, including BRICS nations, and we aim to deliver these stories to international audiences,” Kobia said.

He added that Viory prioritizes positive stories that often receive limited coverage in mainstream media, noting that this is why the network describes itself as the voice of the voiceless.

Kobia also said the partnership will include the use of new technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), in content production and verification, as well as the exchange of experience on best practices in social media use and modern news presentation techniques.
