DAR ES SALAAM: MS Aurelia Venus, a vibrant 28-yearold entrepreneur based in Arusha, has called on Tanzanian youths to boldly tap into the vast opportunities of the digital world, urging them to monetise their creativity and content.

She emphasised that the digital space is no longer just a platform for expression and entertainment, but a commercial goldmine capable of transforming ideas, talents and stories into sustainable sources of income.

According to Ms Venus, with innovation, consistency and the right strategy, young people can turn their online presence into powerful economic tools and play an active role in shaping the country’s digital economy.

As a Chief Executive Officer (CEO), she is running a Curiosity in Art, a start-up company venturing in handcrafted woven jewelry encompassing necklaces, bracelets, earrings and hair ties.

She has been reaching a wide range of customers by posting her products to digital platforms such as Instagram, WhatsApp and TikTok.

In an interview with the Daily News recently, Ms Venus said the digital platforms have allowed her products to reach more customers than how it could be via in-personal selling which is traditional.

“As an entrepreneur in art and an entertainer at heart, I perceive digital platforms as modern stages where creativity performs, stories flow freely and art connects souls beyond physical boundaries,” Ms Venus told the Daily News.

She added: “They allow my work to be seen, felt and experienced, turning every post into a moment of expression and every interaction into a shared energy exchange. I use the digital platforms purposely advertise my businesses.” She said the platforms such as Instagram enable her after posting the products to have instant interactions with customers from various regions across the country who have been pressing their orders.

“Through digital presence, passion transforms into purpose, admiration grows into trust and creativity evolves into sustainable business opening space for connection, collaboration and inspired purchases while honouring authenticity, joy and the living spirit of art,” she said.

Furthermore, Ms Venus said so far she has been receiving order from neighbouring countries especially Kenya and Uganda, the marketing feats that highlight her trajectory towards penetrating into the international marketing.

“Digital platforms give me more exposure and a wider customer base to sell my products,” Ms Venus said.

She said each piece of her products is created with colourful threads, love and radiant intention to complement outfit, boost confidence and awaken goddess energy within. Ms Venus through digital platforms, she targets both wholesalers and retailers.

She urged other fellow youth in Tanzania to avoid misusing digital platform on junk contents that drain their time, energy and financial resources.

Instead, she demanded the youth to monetise contents in digital platform by using the tech spaces to advertise their creative business and showcase their talents be handcraft products, writing or singing among others intellectual work in exchange with cash as returns.

According to Forbes, mobile commerce sales are expected to account for 62 per cent of all retail sales by 2027 worldwide. Looking ahead, Ms Venus said she want to list his business at Etsy in efforts of ensuring many customers as possible have access to her products digitally.

Responding to the question pertaining to government strategies on up scaling digital literacy, Minister of State in the President’s Office -Youth Development, Dr Joel Nanauka underlined the importance of the young generation to use digital space for economic development.

Dr Nanauka said the government is set to establish an Open Coding School for the youth to acquire digital skills which are useful in digitalising their economic activities.
