DODOMA: THE Tanzanian government is fully funding top science students through the Samia Scholarship to boost the number of scientists in Tanzania, Education, Science, and Technology.

Minister for Education, Prof Adolf Mkenda, made the statement today during celebrations marking the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, noting that Samia’s Scholarship programme is not a loan and that it covers all university science study costs for top Form Six performers.

Elaborating, he said that beneficiaries are not required to repay the funds.

Additionally, he said that sustained investment in science is essential for the country’s future, even if results are not immediate.

He also urged capable students to pursue science subjects to benefit from the scholarship while helping build Tanzania’s scientific capacity.
