GEITA: THE Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ambassador, Simon Sirro, who is now the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the State Mining Corporation (STAMICO), has visited several of the corporation’s projects and expressed satisfaction with their performance and strong management.
Ambassador Sirro visited the Buckreef Gold Mine (BGC), in which STAMICO holds a 45 percent stake, while Mbia owns 55 percent as well as touring around the Lwamgasa model gold processing center.
At the site, he instructed staff to work professionally and with integrity in their respective roles to help the corporation achieve its investment goals.

Elaborating, he said that any employee who is not committed and fails to work efficiently has no place in the corporation and that the government is determined to safeguard the corporation’s sustainability for the broader national interest.

“I am glad to see that the corporation’s projects are being run by Tanzanians. I encourage them to work diligently and position the corporation competitively within the mining sector,” he said.
The Acting Managing Director of STAMICO, Deusdedith Magala, said in response to growing demand from small-scale miners for processing services at model centers, the corporation is committed to establishing more such centers in various regions producing minerals other than gold.
