DAR ES SALAAM: LOVERS of entertainment and cinema in the country will soon be able to watch and be entertained by two popular Showmax Original productions, Undugu and Jacob’s Daughters, on linear television as they are expected to be aired on Maisha Magic Bongo (DStv Channel 160) on the 28th of February this year.
Information from the Head of Maisha Magic Bongo, Evelyn Byaruhanga, on Thursday noted that the aim of bringing the shows to television is to expand access to Tanzanian storytelling.
According to Ms Byaruhanga, the series reflects everyday Tanzanian life and allows more households to engage with stories that resonate with their experiences.

The Undugu series talks of sibling rivalries and family disputes in Tanzanian households, focusing on issues such as inheritance, jealousy, and long-standing emotional tensions.

The reality series, which premiered on February 14, 2026, was first launched on Showmax in September 2025, where the story of four half-sisters, namely, Nuru, Nana, Caroline, and Candy, navigating the challenges created by their father, who is Mr Jacob.
“The series features performances by Wisher Nakamba, Angel Mazanda, Prisca Lyimo, and Sia Tarimo, and was created by filmmaker Leah Mwendamseke (Lamata). The show has drawn attention for its exploration of family tensions, romance, betrayal, and sisterhood,” she said.
Hosted by Tanzanian media personality Dina Marios, who guides participants through mediation and conflict resolution sessions, the series, whose title reflects the Swahili concept of brotherhood and kinship, has been noted for its authentic portrayal of familial relationships.
Both series continue to stream on Showmax, allowing audiences to follow them online in addition to their television broadcasts.
