DAR ES SALAAM: THE Council of Councilors of the Temeke Municipal Council has approved the draft budget for the 2026/2027 fiscal year, totaling 192bn/-.

The draft budget will be used to fund various development projects, including education, roads, health, and loans for special groups.

The draft was approved today, February 19, 2026, in Dar es Salaam during a council meeting led by the Honorable Mayor of Temeke Municipality, Uzairu Abdul, who said the budget includes funds from the municipality’s internal collections as well as additional funds from the central government’s grants.

Mayor Abdul emphasized that the draft was approved to meet the high expectations of the municipality’s residents and added that the council has the responsibility to manage the funds efficiently to ensure the development projects are implemented, while citizens and taxpayers are assured that the money they pay goes toward development.

“We have started constructing more than five multi-story schools,” he said..

In primary education, four multi-story schools are under construction in various areas of Temeke. For secondary education, we are building four multi-story buildings, each with five floors and at least 54 classrooms,” Mayor Abdul said.

He also mentioned that in the education sector, the budget will be used to address various challenges, including overcrowded classrooms, a shortage of desks, and laboratories. In the health sector, two multi-story buildings will be constructed to improve healthcare services, and for roads, sufficient funds have been allocated for maintenance and construction.

Meanwhile, the Mbagala Councilor, Abdulkarim Pazi, said the draft aims to ensure benefits for the wards of Temeke Municipality and that residents expect to see significant changes, including critical infrastructure improvements.
