DODOMA: THE Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) has launched VSOMO, a mobile-based platform that allows citizens to learn, practice, and complete exams for technical skills directly from their smartphones.

At a press briefing at the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports in Dodoma, CPA Anthony Kasore, VETA’s Director General, explained that VSOMO gives learners the freedom to study anywhere, at their own pace.

“Once learners finish the online theoretical lessons, they will attend practical sessions at a VETA college. This reduces time spent on campus while maximizing the use of smartphones and learning time,” he said.

The VSOMO program was developed in collaboration with Airtel and Magilla Tech and is now fully managed by VETA.

It is accessible through all mobile networks across Tanzania, enabling people far from colleges to gain valuable skills without travelling.

Since its launch, hundreds of students have successfully completed courses via VSOMO and received certificates, opening doors to employment, entrepreneurship, and personal growth.

With this innovation, VETA is empowering Tanzanians to take charge of their education, upgrade their skills, and build brighter futures anytime, anywhere.
