
DAR ES SALAAM: THE Ministry of Health, through its Medical Tourism Programme, has brought together stakeholders from the government, private sector, and various institutions to gather views for the preparation of a strategic plan for medical tourism.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam after the meeting, the Medical Tourism Coordinator from the Ministry of Health, Dr Asha Mahita, said stakeholders reviewed the opportunities and challenges existing in the country in order to develop a strong plan to support Tanzania’s medical tourism agenda.

Additionally, he said that at the meeting they collected ideas and experiences of the various stakeholders regarding the available opportunities as well as the challenges they face, intending to prepare a solid strategy that will position Tanzania as a hub for medical services for visitors from abroad.
Dr Asha also noted that the inclusion of medical tourism in the agenda of President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s vision has added momentum and motivation to ensure the strategy is developed effectively to achieve government objectives.
