Recently, the promotional video for the Spring Festival Gala produced by China Media Group (CMG) once again made its debut in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s largest city, attracting widespread attention.
Julius Nyerere International Airport, named after the country’s founding president, is one of East Africa’s key aviation hubs. The Spring Festival Gala promo, played on electronic screens across various areas of the airport, captured the attention of many travelers.


The promo was broadcast on screens in theJohari Rotana ‘s lobby, conference center, and other areas. Spending the Chinese New Year in Tanzania has also become a new choice for many Chinese tourists. According to Ahmed Said, the hotel’s general manager, they are honored to collaborate with CMG in airing the promo, hoping it brings a sense of home to Chinese visitors holidaying in Tanzania.

The CMG Spring Festival Gala promo also made a vibrant appearance on the streets of Dar es Salaam, in areas like Masaki, the financial district, and the Mlimani City shopping center. The looping video attracted the attention of local residents and overseas Chinese living in Tanzania.

Regarded as the highest standard of televised variety shows in China, the Spring Festival Gala has been a cultural tradition on Chinese New Year’s Eve since its official inception in 1983. It is one of the most-watched television programs globally. This year, nearly 4,000 media outlets worldwide provided simultaneous live broadcasts and coverage, reaching over 2.4 billion overseas viewers.
The Gala extends warm greetings to Chinese people and friends abroad, conveying the comforting spirit of a shared Spring Festival, while also showcasing the profound charm of the Spring Festival and Chinese culture to the world.

For instance, this year’s Gala featured humanoid robots skillfully performing traditional Chinese martial arts, and Seedance 2.0 precisely capturing the brushstrokes and charm of Chinese ink painting… Viewers couldn’t help but exclaim, “That’s so quintessentially Chinese!”

Today, more and more Tanzanians have shown an interest in gaining a deeper understanding of China, further fueling the overseas craze for China and Chinese culture.
