DAR ES SALAAM: AZAM and Singida Black Stars secured valuable Mainland Premier League victories yesterday, with Azam defeating Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC) 2-0, while Singida cruised past Mtibwa Sugar 3-1.

At the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam, Azam were propelled by a second-half brace from Iddi Selemani, whose clinical finishing proved decisive.

The result deepened KMC’s early-season struggles, leaving them anchored at the bottom of the table.

For Azam, the win lifted them to eighth place with 19 points from nine matches. Selemani broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute, curling a superb free-kick from outside the area into the top corner.

Ten minutes later, he struck again, this time from another set-piece situation initiated by Feisal Salum.

His low, driven effort took a slight deflection before finding the net, sealing a well-earned personal double. Meanwhile, at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma, Singida Black Stars delivered a commanding performance to defeat Mtibwa Sugar 3-1.

The victory moved Singida to 10th place with 15 points from nine matches, while Mtibwa remain fourth with 21 points from 15 games.

The Singida Black Stars took charge early in the fifth minute, when Emmanuel Keyekeh powered down the left flank and delivered a precise cross into the box.
