DAR ES SALAAM: THE Ilala District Commissioner, Edward Mpogolo, has affirmed the government’s commitment to work closely with the Fair Competition Commission (FCC) in ensuring all industrial products meet quality standards, satisfy consumers, and contribute to national development.
Mr Mpogolo made the remarks today, February 23, 2026, while opening a seminar for media editors organized by the FCC in Dar es Salaam. He noted that some producers still manufacture substandard products and stated that all local councils would continue collaborating with the commission to monitor and eliminate such practices.
“We rely heavily on editors. Your pens and ideas will help our country, Tanzania. The best way to support is by cooperating with the FCC in its work,” Mpogolo said.

The District Commissioner also recommended increasing the number of FCC staff, citing the growing workload, especially at ports where cargo volumes continue to rise.
Meanwhile, Acting Director General of the FCC, Hadija Ngasongwa, said the seminar aimed to give editors a clear understanding of the commission’s roles and activities, noting that editors are a vital pillar in the nation and society.
On his part, Bakari Kimwanga, a representative of the Tanzania Editors Forum (TEF), said editors had gained a better understanding of the FCC’s work and pledged to collaborate closely with the commission to produce informative and impactful news for the country.
