DAR ES SALAAM: THE Kariakoo Markets Organization has successfully implemented more than 95 percent of the instructions given by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, during the opening of this market on February 8, 2026, including providing traders with disaster management education.
The modern market has been improved and renovated at a cost of 28b/- by installing modern service systems including fire extinguishing systems and data centers.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam with more than 400 traders of the market during the opening of training on how to use fire extinguishing systems, the General Manager of the market, CPA Ashraph Abdulkarim, stressed that the move is the implementation of the instructions given by President Samia when he launched this market, where he said he would not like to see people there not knowing how to use the modern infrastructure available.
“The instructions he gave us have been implemented, including the issue of data sources, and we have implemented all the traders in the system. I thank and congratulate our fire brigade colleagues for coming to provide training and you will be here. We have given them a place and we have given them a parking space. I believe you will be here all the time and we believe that with this, the training will be continuous,” said CPA Ashraph.
Regarding the childcare area, he said that the implementation has begun, where the Regional Regional Administration (RALGA) will come with drawings after being shown the area, so within the next two weeks they will start the implementation.

He also asked them to be attentive and consider the training and give their opinion to those who have not started using their areas to use them before they are given to other traders in need.
Acting Assistant Commissioner, Ilala Regional Fire Brigade Commander Chrispin Rabiuzima said they want every trader to know how to protect the market and be an ambassador to tell others.
“We provide various services in different fields, if we have any challenges, call 114. The services we provide are not only firefighting but also social services, for example, if someone has fainted, if you are overwhelmed, you have an emergency, call us, if someone falls, call us, we will take them to the hospital at no cost.

He said that anyone can use and control fire and this training will be done in more practical ways and will be continuous.
The Chairman of the Kariakoo Market Traders, Ramadhan Kakandilo, said that they were victims of the fire disaster so they thank President Samia for building a modern market for them with necessary systems and giving them training that will help them protect and maintain the market.
A trader, Mariam Zuberi, said they are grateful for education because the environment is foreign to them, and the modern system of the old Kariakoo is not the current one and also every trader has found his own area.
