DAR ES SALAAM: THE Minister of State, President’s Office – Youth Development, Joel Nanauka, has announced that the government has introduced a new system to manage the distribution of 200bn/- allocated to youth, aiming to ensure the funds deliver positive results for the beneficiaries.

Speaking to the government media outlet today, February 23, 2026, Minister Nanauka said the funds will be directed to various groups, including farmers, entrepreneurs, fishermen, livestock keepers, and innovative youth.

He noted that past experience shows loans to youth have not produced the expected results, despite over  36bn/- being disbursed in the 2024/2025 financial year.

Furthermore, Minister Nanauka explained that strict conditions have now been removed, financial institutions have been involved, and the loan disbursement system has been improved to be professional and impartial. Several local councils have already started piloting the implementation of the program.

The Minister also highlighted that the ministry continues to engage with youth across the country to hear their views on employment, education, and leadership participation.

He emphasised that the success of this program depends on collaboration between the government, the private sector, and the youth themselves, urging young people to seize the opportunities and make effective use of the resources provided.
