DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) is continuing to improve the broadcasting sector environment in the country by reviewing broadcasting license fees, a move aimed at reducing operational costs and stimulating overall sector growth.

Speaking about the improvements, TCRA Broadcasting Services Manager, Engineer Andrew Kisaka, said the Authority is implementing recommendations derived from a study on broadcasting services in the country, which identified key areas for strengthening the sector and enhancing service efficiency.

Additionally, he stated that apart from reducing license fees for online content providers, TCRA will also review license fees for other broadcasting services, including radio and television, with fees reduced as appropriate to set levels that promote the sector, attract investment, and increase healthy competition.

According to Engineer Kisaka, the improvements are expected to enable service providers to operate more efficiently, foster content innovation, and expand access to quality broadcasting services for communities, while TCRA continues to oversee the quality and integrity of content delivered to the public.
