
DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the transport sector to facilitate trade between the two countries.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Prof Godius Kahyarara, and the Governor of Maniema Province in DRC Mussa Kabwankubi Moise , in Dar es Salaam.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to expand the scope of cooperation, particularly in the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) project from Tanzania to Kindu, aimed at easing trade between the two nations.

Speaking with the delegation from DRC, Prof Kahyarara noted that Tanzania values its existing trade relations with the DRC and, as a sign of commitment, stated that Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) is expected to launch cargo flights to Kinshasa in April this year.

Both parties agreed to deepen cooperation and consider proposals for implementation to further enhance collaboration between Tanzania and the DRC in the transport sector.
