TANZANIA Prisons has officially confirmed the departure of Kenyan tactician Zedeckia Evans Otieno following a mutual agreement to terminate his contract.

Club Chief Executive Officer Godfrey Madegwa announced that both parties agreed to part ways in what he described as a professional and respectful decision aimed at giving the team a fresh start in the ongoing league campaign.

“We have reached a mutual agreement with Coach Otieno to end our cooperation. We appreciate his commitment and contribution to the club during his time with us and wish him success in his future endeavors.”

Madegwa said “Coach Otieno played a key role in guiding the team through a challenging season, and his experience and professionalism have been highly valued. We remain grateful for his dedication and the positive impact he made on the players and the club,”

Madegwa added Otieno leaves Tanzania Prisons struggling in 14th position on the league table, having collected 12 points from 14 matches.

The team’s inconsistent run of results and difficulties in front of goal have raised concerns among supporters and club stakeholders, prompting management to reconsider the technical bench.

The former coach joined the club with high expectations, bringing experience from Kenyan football and a reputation for discipline and tactical organization.

However, despite flashes of promise, the results did not meet the ambitions set at the beginning of the season.

However, sources within the club indicate that preparations are already underway to appoint an interim coach as the search for a permanent replacement gathers pace.

T h e immedi – ate task for the incoming technical team will be to steer Tanzania Prisons away from the relegation zone and restore confidence within the squad.
