DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA has been honored to host the Regional Horticulture Conference (Hortilogistica Africa) in November 2026 in the Arusha Region.
The Ministry of Agriculture announced this on Thursday in Dodoma, noting the conference aims to bring together various stakeholders to discuss, exchange experiences, and promote value chain opportunities in agriculture, including investment, tourism, trade and transport.
According to the ministry, the platform will position Tanzania as Africa’s horticulture hub in the production of fruits and vegetables.
Speaking during a preparatory meeting, Minister for Agriculture Daniel Chongolo thanked the Minister of State in the President’s Office (Planning and Investment), Prof Kitila Mkumbo, for his readiness to cooperate in ensuring that preparations for the conference yield tangible benefits not only for the agriculture sector but also in expanding business and investment opportunities across other sectors of the economy.

On his part, Prof Kitila proposed that the upcoming conference should prioritise boosting investment in crop production, market development and cross-sector participation to drive national development.
Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Gerald Mweli, said the joint coordination between the Ministry and the Tanzania Horticultural Association (TAHA) reflects the government’s vision of partnering with the private sector to stimulate development.
He noted that TAHA has been a key long-term partner in various agricultural sector events, citing the Nane Nane Agricultural Exhibitions as an example.
