ZANZIBAR: THE President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has invited French companies and investors to invest in Zanzibar’s key economic sectors, including tourism, saying  Zanzibar is a good ground for productive and sustainable investments.

President Mwinyi said this today, February 27, 2026, at the State House, Zanzibar, when he met with the French Ambassador to Tanzania, Anne Sophie, who arrived for talks to strengthen relations and cooperation between Zanzibar and France.

President Mwinyi said Zanzibar needs careful investors with sufficient capital who will invest in these sectors to strengthen the workforce, increase expertise and improve service delivery, especially in the tourism sector and the development of the blue economy.

In addition, he stated that the government continues to strengthen sound investment policies as well as develop road and port infrastructure, including the Mangapwani Integrated Port, which, when completed, will provide broad investment opportunities.

He has stressed the strategy of opening Pemba Island as a centre for investment and sustainable tourism.

Dr Mwinyi has assured France that Zanzibar will continue to develop strategies to strengthen diplomatic and economic relations and has urged investors from France to come to Zanzibar to see for themselves and identify the opportunities available.

Ambassador Anne Sophie has assured Zanzibar that France will continue to support efforts being taken to strengthen key economic areas, especially projects in the tourism, health, education, culture, development of the Old Town, environment, and blue economy sectors.
