
SHINYANGA: BUSINESS owners, especially small-scale traders with annual sales below 100m/-, have been directed to visit the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) offices for tax assessments and to fulfill their tax obligations on time.
The Regional Administrative Secretary for Shinyanga region, Salum Hamdun, made the call in a meeting with the TRA team conducting a door-to-door tax education campaign in the region.
In his remarks, the RAS stressed the importance of businessmen in the country to cooperate with the authorities to avoid legal issues that may arise from non-compliance with tax regulations.

Elaborating, he said that tax revenue is a key pillar for implementing development projects, including infrastructure construction, and the provision of social services such as health care and education.
Moreover, he commended TRA for initiating the campaign to reach business owners directly, noting that it helps improve understanding of different types of taxes, assessment procedures, and the importance of adhering to tax laws.
He encouraged traders to take advantage of the initiative by asking questions and seeking clarifications, which will help strengthen their businesses while contributing effectively to national development.
