DAR ES SALAAM: SECONDARY School students from Tanzania, Kenya, and  Mozambique have attended a training under a special peace-building project to enable them identify and address challenges affecting their communities.

The initiative seeks to strengthen their capacity to manage conflicts through dialogue, collaboration, and mutual understanding.

The project is being implemented by the Italian non-governmental organization CEFA.

 Speaking about its implementation, Joyce Mdachi, Co-Project Coordinator for the Peacebuilding Project, stated that the primary objective is to equip students with practical skills and knowledge that will enable them to resolve conflicts arising within their communities through peaceful and cohesive approaches.

Irene Scivrpa, the Chief Project Manager for the Peacebuilding Project, explained that students were selected as the primary beneficiaries because they represent the emerging generation that will shape the future of society. She emphasized the importance of helping young people understand, at an early stage, the nature of conflict, its consequences, and the value of peace and social cohesion in community development.

Some of the participating students, including Nailath Salum and Hussein Bandari, said that the training and their involvement in the program have enhanced their understanding and strengthened their ability to address various challenges around them, enabling them to become part of the solution within their communities.
