
HANDENI: The Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office for Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG), Reuben Kwagwila, has inspected the progress of the construction of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) building at Handeni Municipal Council Hospital. The project aims to address the long-standing challenge of access to critical care services for residents in the area.
Deputy Minister Kwagwila conducted the inspection today, February 10, 2026, during his official visit to the hospital, where he had the opportunity to review various stages of the project and assess the progress achieved so far.
During the visit, he received technical briefings from council experts regarding the construction progress, project implementation status, and the expected timeline for completion.

The construction of the ICU building is part of the government’s efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure, bring essential services closer to the community, enhance the hospital’s capacity to provide emergency care, and strengthen life-saving services for patients.
The modern facility is expected to include advanced oxygen systems and specialized monitoring equipment for critically ill patients, enabling closer supervision of patient conditions and improving the overall quality of healthcare services at the hospital.
