
DAR ES SALAAM: THE Oryx Gas Tanzania Limited (OGTL) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting clean cooking energy across the nation, with a focus on enhancing the daily lives of Tanzanians and encouraging families to embrace sustainable alternatives.
Company’s Managing Director Benoit Araman emphasized the importance of clean energy as Oryx continues to lead the charge in improving access to cooking gas for households nationwide.
Speaking yesterday at the launch of the company’s new promotional campaign, dubbed ‘Pishi la Kibabe’, Mr Araman highlighted the company’s ongoing efforts to inspire widespread adoption of clean cooking energy, particularly during the Ramadan and Lenten seasons.
“Through our team’s efforts, we aim to expand the clean energy campaign, encouraging more users to accept and adopt clean cooking energy,” Araman said. “This is a vital time, especially during the fasting month of Ramadan, when families are cooking and gathering for meals.”
The Managing Director also noted the significance of unity, highlighting that both Ramadan and Lent symbolize important moments for families to come together in prayer and fellowship.
He expressed his desire to spread this spirit of unity throughout Tanzanian society, using the platform to reinforce the company’s mission of community support.
Oryx Gas Marketing and Sales Manager Shaban Fundi provided further details about the Pishi la Kibabe campaign, which includes special offers and discounted prices for a 6kg gas cylinder.
During this promotional period, the cylinder will be available nationwide for only 37,000/-, down from its usual price of 40,000/-.. In addition, customers who purchase or refill gas at Oryx or Mangi Shop outlets will receive complimentary Iftar meals as a token of appreciation.

“Our slogan for this campaign is ‘What differentiates us is our unity),” Mr Fundi said. “We believe that the right moments truly happen at the family table, where we cook, breakfast, and pray together.”
Mr Fundi also praised the government’s support in reducing taxes on cooking gas cylinders, which has contributed to making gas a more affordable and accessible option for Tanzanians.
Ms Carloline Sokwa, Head of Gas Sales at Oryx, also spoke about the campaign’s broader social impact. “This is a time for Muslims and Christians alike to unite in prayer and reflection. We believe that the Pishi la Kibabe campaign will help families come together to cook and celebrate, while also benefiting from the affordability and safety of Oryx Gas.”
