ARUSHA: PERMANENT Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ambassador Waziri Salum has directed institutions under the ministry to implement meaningful changes that will benefit the government through business creation, investment promotion, and increased domestic revenue, in a bid to accelerate national economic growth.

Speaking recently in Arusha during the opening of a working session that brought together heads of various institutions under the ministry, Amb Waziri stressed that these institutions must eliminate obstacles that hinder both foreign and local investors from establishing businesses.

He noted that the ministry carries high expectations from President Samia Suluhu Hassan, particularly in creating a conducive environment for business and investment in the country.

“Business registration and investment processes must not become sources of complaints. Our institutions should not act as barriers to investors who want to establish industries; instead, they must serve as facilitators by ensuring that businesses operate easily and efficiently,” he said.

Amb Waziri added that implementing the National Development Vision 2050 requires changes in mindset and operational approaches, urging institutions to move away from routine practices and focus on productivity and accountability.

He further said that the industrial and trade sectors must grow rapidly, and each institution should assess its role and clearly outline its contribution to industrial development, trade enhancement and increased government revenue.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of the Warehouse Receipts Regulatory Board, Asangye Bangu said that the board has received the directives and will implement them to eliminate trade challenges and stimulate industrial growth.

He added that the institution will continue collaborating with stakeholders to improve the business environment and ensure sustained growth in the industrial sector for the nation’s benefit.
