DAR ES SALAAM: The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) has awarded grand prizes to three top winners of its “Ukigusa Tu, iMOOO” campaign, including a Nissan X-Trail presented to overall winner Mr Salah Ahmed Mohamed of Dar es Salaam. The campaign aimed to promote financial inclusion by encouraging customers to use digital financial services.

The prize-giving ceremony took place at NBC’s Mlimani City Branch in Ubungo, Dar es Salaam. The second and third winners received an iPhone 17 Pro smartphone and an electric and gas cooker, respectively. NBC’s Director of Retail and Business Banking, Mr Elibariki Masuke, officiated the event alongside senior bank officials.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Masuke said the campaign went beyond rewarding customers. It sought to expand awareness and adoption of digital financial services across different segments of society. The initiative targeted salaried workers, small and medium-sized enterprises, students, and individual customers nationwide, with the goal of simplifying access to banking services and reducing reliance on over-the-counter transactions.

“In today’s world, digital financial services are essential tools for simplifying daily life,” Mr Masuke said. “Through this campaign, we have recorded a significant rise in the use of bank cards, POS machines and the NBC Kiganjani mobile application. This reflects a positive shift toward a digitally empowered economy.”

He added that, in addition to the three grand prize winners, NBC has been issuing weekly rewards to other participants, including cash prizes and laptops. The incentives were designed to promote savings, secure transactions and the use of technology to support personal and business growth.

He noted that NBC will continue to introduce programmes that address community needs while adapting to rapid global technological changes.

“As a bank, we remain focused on initiatives that directly impact Tanzanians’ lives and respond to evolving digital trends,” he said.

Representing the grand prize winner, Ms Diana Bernard thanked NBC for organising a campaign that delivered tangible benefits to customers and the wider community. She said her family has long banked with NBC, citing reliable service and convenient digital platforms.

“This prize is more than a car. It shows how financial institutions can transform lives by encouraging the use of formal financial services,” she said. “Digital banking has helped us manage personal and business activities more efficiently. We are proud to be part of this transformation.”

Other winners included Mr Vidya Sagar, who received the iPhone 17 Pro, and Ms Beatrice Chengula from Temeke, who won the electric and gas cooker.

Through the “Ukigusa Tu, iMOOO” campaign, NBC has reinforced its drive to accelerate digital banking adoption while rewarding customers who embrace modern financial solutions.
