DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Commercial Bank (TCB) has launched a new initiative aimed at accelerating the country’s transition to a cashless economy, reinforcing its commitment to digital financial inclusion and innovative banking solutions.

This was highlighted over the weekend when TCB unveiled its end of-year campaign, ‘Toka Nayo Popote’, aimed at customers using the bank’s Visa card for qualifying festive-season transactions.

TCB bank’s Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Mr Alex Dwashi said the initiative forms part of the bank’s broader strategy to promote financial inclusion while encouraging customers to embrace secure and convenient digital payment methods.

“These festive seasons often come with increased financial pressure. Through this cash-back offer, we aim to reduce that burden while rewarding our customers for choosing safer and more efficient digital payment options,” he said.

The campaign designed to ease financial pressure typically associated with end-of-year celebrations by offering customers a 10 per cent cash-back on eligible digital transactions, reinforcing the growing adoption of cashless payments across the country.

The lender’s Chief Officer for Digital and Innovation Services Mr Jesse Jackson said the cashback reward reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting customers through reliable and modern digital solutions.

“Cashless payment systems not only improve convenience but also enhance security by reducing the risks associated with carrying physical cash,” he said, noting that TCB continues to invest in strengthening its digital infrastructure to ensure customers enjoy fast and efficient services wherever they are.

Meanwhile, TCB Director for SME and Retail Banking, Ms Lilian Mtali said the initiative is expected to help customers maximise value from their spending during the holiday period.
