DAR ES SALAAM: THE Muhimbili Orthopedic and Brain Institute (MOI) has said that in the 100 days of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, they will provide medical relief worth Sh100 million to 1,306 patients, including those who lost their lives.
Speaking to journalists today in Dar es Salaam, the Executive Director of MOI, Ambassador Dr Mpoki Ulisubisya, said that during those days, 54,594 patients received services, of which 1,644 received surgical services and 19,281 patients received services such as X-rays, Ultrasound and others, which has reduced the number of patients abroad.

“The things we did in Samia’s 100 days, there has been a need to expand the scope of the type of examination, and we have added a service to conduct examinations through holes. The patient is simulated on a special machine. The doctor takes pictures to see what part of the body he has a problem with. In the past, we used to operate.
He said another new thing they did was to put medical cement in the vertebrae of the spine, which, when placed, returns to the way they were.
“For a long time, these patients did not have special interventions. In 100 days, we found doctors who treat chronic pain. Now they are receiving treatment, and 22 people have benefited from this treatment,” emphasized Ambassador Dr Mpoki.
He said that they are currently working on a procedure to repair paralyzed limbs, such as arms or legs, and they are checking that the nerves are being repaired so that a person can use their limbs.
“For a long time, we have been talking about rehabilitation services. This is for people who have had a stroke or accidents that damaged some part of the body.
He said that due to the challenge of increasing patients and the need for private wards, they have now added 25 private wards.
He also explained that due to the increase in the large queue of patients,
They have come up with a way to make appointments online where the patient will choose the doctor they want to see, even if those from abroad can do so.

We will also go to other areas such as Arusha regions, Arusha Lutheran Medical Centre, we will collaborate with JKCI, we will go to Kigoma, Katavi, and other regions of this country,” Dr Mpoki emphasized.
