DAR ES SALAAM: OVER 100 swimming officials are set to take part in a one-day clinic scheduled for the end of this month in Dar es Salaam.

The training session is being jointly organised by the Tanzania Swimming Association (TSA) in collaboration with Prime Sports Agency.

Edwin Karume, who is TSA official’s coordinator said the clinic will be held at the end of this month on February 28 at the University of Dar es salaam (UDSM) main campus in the new Library, and one of its aims is to impart the participants with roles and responsibilities of swimming officials.

He added, “The session will bring together referees, judges and club administrators from different regions, creating an opportunity for them to exchange knowledge and experiences.”

“The clinic is designed not only to refresh their understanding of updated rules and regulations, but also to strengthen professionalism, consistency and integrity in the management of swimming competitions nationwide,” he added.

“The planned clinic for referees, judges and club administrators carries significant importance for the growth and development of swimming in the country. It provides a platform for officials from different regions to come together and share knowledge, experiences and best practices.”

“Such interaction promotes unity and common understanding, which is essential in ensuring that competitions are conducted fairly and consistently across the nation,” he said.

He indicated that another key importance of the clinic lies in updating participants on new rules and regulations, saying sports rules are regularly reviewed and improved at international level and it is therefore crucial for local officials to stay informed about these changes.

“When referees and judges clearly understand the latest guidelines, they are better equipped to make accurate decisions during competitions. This not only reduces disputes but also builds trust among athletes, coaches and fans,” he emphasised.
