
KOROGWE: The Minister of Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups, Dorothy Gwajima, has condemned certain behaviours and cultural practices in some communities that violate moral values and contribute to the erosion of ethics, particularly among children.
Addressing residents in Korogwe District, Tanga Region, the Minister asked them to immediately stop such practices, stressing the importance of protecting societal morals.
Dr Gwajima is on a working visit to review projects implemented by World Vision Tanzania in collaboration with the government in Tanga Region.

During the visit, she facilitated a discussion between the residents and leaders about traditional dances known as Vigoma and Vigodoro, which take place publicly during the day.
Upon her call, many residents expressed anger over the practices as well, stating that they negatively affect community morals and encourage inappropriate behavior among children.
The residents’ open up led to a joint resolution to end the practices.
Additionally, the minister led a women’s march in the ward to protest against the practices, urging women to take a leading role in opposing cultural customs that undermine morals, in collaboration with men and the government.
