DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA, and Korea have reaffirmed their commitment to enhance both bilateral and multilateral cooperation for the mutual benefit of the people of the two countries.

In a meeting that involved government officials from Tanzania and Korea, the main agenda of discussion was a plan to further strengthen their diplomatic cooperation.

The meeting, which was held between Tanzania’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Dr Ngwaru J. Maghembe, and Korea’s Ambassador to Tanzania, Ahn Eun-Ju, took place at the Ministry’s sub-office in Dar es Salaam.

Tanzania and Korea are currently collaborating in the implementation of various projects across key sectors, including infrastructure, transport, energy, mining, and agriculture.

According to reports from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperations, trade between the two nations continues to grow, with Tanzania exporting coffee, tobacco, cotton, and timber products to the Korean market, while importing mainly industrial goods from Korea.

Additionally, the ministry noted that Korea has invested in 18 projects in Tanzania worth 24.7m US dollars, creating employment opportunities for about 518 Tanzanians.

Tanzania and Korea established diplomatic relations in 1992.
