DAR ES SALAAM: TAIFA Stars head coach Miguel Gamondi has rewarded two standout players from Tanzania’s U-17 national team, the Serengeti Boys, with call-ups to the senior national squad ahead of next month’s FIFA international friendly matches in Morocco.

The Argentine tactician included Luqman Mbalasalu and Serengeti Boys captain Kassim Juma in his Taifa Stars squad for the high-profile friendlies against Uganda and Rwanda.

The two rising stars are currently in Morocco with the Serengeti Boys, who have enjoyed a historic run to the final of the CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, where they are set to face Senegal on Tuesday.

According to the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF), the duo will link up with the Taifa Stars camp immediately after completing their duties with the national U-17 side. Taifa Stars are scheduled to face Uganda on June 5 before taking on Rwanda on June 9 in Marrakech, Morocco, as part of preparations for upcoming international assignments.

The call-up reflects Gamondi’s commitment to building a youthful and competitive national team by gradually integrating promising young talents into the senior setup. Several players have already reported to camp as Taifa Stars officially began preparations yesterday.

The goalkeeping department includes Zuber Foba, Aishi Manula of Azam FC and Yona Amos from Pamba Jiji. In defence, Gamondi named Pascal Msindo, Nickson Kibabage, Ibrahim Hamad, Elias Lawi, Bakari Mwamnyeto, Vedastus Masinde, Mohamed Mussa, Haji Mnoga and Novatus Dismas.

The midfield unit features Mohammed Sagaf, Abdukarim Kiswanya, Mudathiri Yahya, Charles M’mombwa, Alphonce Mabula, Bakari Msimu and Feisal Salum.

Meanwhile, the attacking line comprises Tarryn Allarakhia, experienced forward Simon Msuva, Selemani Mwalimu, Cyprian Kachwele and Said Khamis.

The inclusion of the two Serengeti Boys stars has already generated excitement among football fans, with many viewing the move as a significant step towards building a stronger future for Tanzania’s national team.
