DODOMA: CRDB Bank has thrown its weight behind the Wellness Day programme as part of a broader strategy to intensify the fight against non-communicable diseases (NCDs) among its employees, a move expected to boost workplace efficiency and enhance customer service.

The programme, which has been commemorated for six consecutive years, brought together hundreds of the bank’s employees at John Merlin Secondary School grounds in Dodoma, where they participated in physical exercises, various sports activities, health screenings, as well as seminars on nutrition, mental health, and healthy lifestyle management.

Speaking after leading employees in physical exercises, acting Managing Director of CRDB Bank, Edward Mpina, said employee health is the foundation of strong institutional performance, emphasising that employees with good health and mental stability contribute significantly to the delivery of quality services to customers.

He said the bank has continued to prioritise employee wellbeing because institutional success depends on a healthy, motivated workforce capable of effectively performing its responsibilities.

“We have been at the forefront of ensuring that our customers receive quality services at all times. However, this cannot be achieved without having employees who are physically and mentally healthy,” Mpina said.

He noted that following the success of the programme in various areas, CRDB Bank will continue extending it to all regions in the country and outside Tanzania where the bank operates, ensuring every employee benefits from the wellbeing initiative.

For his part, acting Director of Human Resources at CRDB Bank, Masoud Matange, said the current working environment can lead employees to spend more time at their workplaces and neglect their health, which may increase the risk of non-communicable diseases and stress.

He said through Wellness Day, employees are reminded of the importance of exercising regularly, getting enough sleep, eating a balanced diet, undergoing timely health check-ups, and seeking professional support on mental health.

“CRDB Bank’s success is a result of the contribution of every employee. That is why we continue investing in their health and wellbeing so that they can continue providing high-quality services that meet our customers’ expectations,” Matange said.

Besides physical exercises and sports activities, participants received health screening services and advice from doctors and health experts on psychology, relationships, nutrition, disease prevention, and stress management.

The programme is part of the 2026 Wellness Day campaign, which was launched in Mwanza before moving to different regions, including Burundi, Dar es Salaam, Pwani, and now the Central Zone, whose headquarters are in Dodoma.

Through the initiative, CRDB Bank aims to reach all its employees across eight operational zones within and outside Tanzania, with the goal of building a healthy, professional, and capable workforce that delivers quality services aligned with customer expectations.
