DAR ES SALAAM: PUMA Energy Tanzania has been awarded the Presidential Best Taxpayer Award at the Presidential Awards ceremony for Best Taxpayers, held alongside celebrations marking 30 years of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA).
The awards were presented by the President Samia Suluhu Hassan, to outstanding taxpayers through the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), at an event that brought together top taxpayers from all 35 regions of Tanzania, aimed at promoting a culture of tax compliance and recognizing their contribution to national development. Puma Energy Tanzania’s award was presented by the President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, His Excellency Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi.
For many years, Puma Energy Tanzania has continued to contribute to the country’s development through tax payments, dividends to the Government as a shareholder, and investments aimed at ensuring reliable, safe, and efficient energy services for citizens and productive sectors.
Speaking after the event, Puma Energy Tanzania’s Managing Director, Ms Fatma Abdallah, said the company is proud to receive the award, as it is a proof of the strong foundations of accountability, integrity, and legal compliance that have continued to strengthen its operations in the country.
“This award is a great honor to us and gives the strength to continue carrying out our responsibilities effectively. It is the result of our employees’ joint efforts, our strong collaboration with the Government, and our commitment to conducting business with transparency and in accordance with the country’s laws. We believe that paying taxes is a vital contribution to building a strong economy and improving social services for Tanzanians,” said Ms Fatma Abdallah.
“The award motivates us to continue being at the forefront of supporting Government efforts to increase domestic revenue through timely tax payment, sustainable investment, and the expansion of energy services that drive economic growth and development across various productive sectors,” she added.
Over the past three years, Puma Energy Tanzania has continued to set an outstanding record in tax payment, contributing more than TZS 1.4 trillion in taxes and various levies to the Government. As a result of this contribution, the company has continued to be recognized by the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) for its compliance with tax laws and its significant contribution to increasing Government revenue. These awards demonstrate the company’s genuine commitment to contributing to national economic growth, strengthening a culture of voluntary tax compliance, and being a trusted partner of the Government in advancing the national development agenda.
