MWANZA: MINING stakeholders have requested the Tanzanian government to reduce taxes on mineral raw materials and assist in the importation of mineral raw materials into the country.
The request was given today by Mine Trade Limited representative Ms Bhavna Pandya while addressing the audience at the Fifth Forum on the Implementation of Tanzanian Participation in the Mining Sector (LCCF 2026) in Mwanza.
She said the improvements to reduce taxes on mineral products will help ensure access to quality mineral raw materials. He also said that the participation of indigenous people in mining will help build the capacity of Tanzanians to be innovative in mining.
She said local content is not only about distributing products, but also building the capacity of Tanzanians, transferring knowledge and ensuring that expertise remains in the country for the benefit of the development of the mining sector.

She commended the efforts of the Ministry of Minerals, the Mining Commission and the Local Content Monitoring Team for continuing to create an environment that enables Tanzanian companies to fully participate in the mining value chain.
Ms Pandya said the company has continued to invest in developing local professionals through the employment of Tanzanian engineers, technicians and specialists who provide services in major mines including Barrick Bulyanhulu and Barrick North Mara.
She explained that the services provided by the company include plant maintenance, supply and servicing of hydraulic piping systems, as well as technical solutions that help increase efficiency and increase production in mines.
Mining Engineering Services (MES) representative, Mr Chrispine Ndege said that the presence of their company in the first phase will help generate permanent jobs for 1500 Tanzanians as well as Tanzanians will also benefit from gaining education and skills in the production of hot-dip galvanized steel.
He said that their company will officially start production in the Kigamboni area in Dar-es-Salaam and the main beneficiaries of the project will be Tanzanians
