ZANZIBAR: The government of Zanzibar has affirmed its commitment to continue inviting more investors, as it still has numerous investment opportunities that require collaboration with stakeholders and international institutions.
The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, made the remarks today, December 1, 2025, when he met with the Chairman of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, Lord Swire, and his delegation, who visited the State House for discussions.
President Mwinyi informed the delegation that Zanzibar has been making significant efforts to strengthen the investment sector to attract investors, particularly in two key economic sectors: the Blue Economy and Tourism.
He noted that the delegation’s visit is an important opportunity for Zanzibar in achieving its investment goals.

He identified the Blue Economy and Tourism sectors as the main contributors to nearly 30 per cent of the national GDP, adding that there are still many opportunities in which the Council can partner with Zanzibar.
Additionally, he assured the delegation that Zanzibar is well prepared to identify investment opportunities across various sectors, as well as areas that still require investors in business and investment.
Speaking about the Mangapwani Integrated Port, Dr Mwinyi said the area is strategic and holds numerous investment opportunities in different sectors, including transportation, oil and gas, and trade. He added that the government expects to welcome more investors to invest in that area.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, Lord Swire, said that Zanzibar is an important partner and that the Council is ready to collaborate with it in various areas of cooperation, investment, and trade for the sake of economic development and the well-being of its people.
