DODOMA: THE National Council for Non-Governmental Organisations (NaCoNGO) has reaffirmed its commitment to becoming stronger, more accountable and innovative in order to better serve citizens and contribute effectively to the implementation of the National Development Vision 2050.
NaCoNGO National Chairman, Mr Jasper Makala, made the remarks yesterday while briefing journalists on the council’s annual platform scheduled to take place in Dodoma from October 20 to 22 this year.
He said non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have been working closely with the government to support service delivery in key sectors, including health, education, women and youth empowerment, as well as community development.
“Through this year’s platform, we will have an opportunity to assess how we can increase our contribution, especially as the country prepares to implement Vision 2050. We will also examine ways of mobilising financial resources from domestic sources to ensure the sustainability of our operations,” Mr Makala said.

He said about 3,000 participants from within and outside the country are expected to attend the event, which will be held under the theme: ‘New Thinking on NGO Sustainability: Innovation, Partnership and Resource Mobilisation through Domestic Sources.’
For his part, Deputy Registrar in the Ministry of Community Development, Women, Gender and Special Groups, Mr Mussa Hamis, said the government recognises and values the contribution of NGOs and remains committed to strengthening cooperation with the sector.
“We are organising this platform together and look forward to productive discussions on how we can deepen our partnership, which is important for the development of our people and the country as a whole,” he said.
