
MOMBASA: ZANZIBAR President and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has met with the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Inger Andersen, to discuss ways of strengthening cooperation in environmental conservation and sustainable development.
During the meeting held in Mombasa, Kenya, the two leaders discussed various strategies for addressing the impacts of climate change, as well as measures to enhance the management and protection of marine resources, which are vital for economic and social development.

They also emphasized the importance of promoting the sustainable use of marine resources through the implementation of policies and programs aimed at protecting marine ecosystems while advancing the Blue Economy for the benefit of current and future generations.
In addition, Dr Mwinyi expressed his appreciation to UNEP for its support and contribution to the implementation of environmental programs in Tanzania. He reaffirmed the country’s commitment to continued collaboration with the organization in strengthening environmental conservation, addressing climate change challenges, and advancing the Blue Economy and sustainable development agenda.
