SINGIDA: PRIME Minister Dr Mwigulu Nchemba has said the government will continue investing in higher education through the expansion and modernisation of learning infrastructure to produce a skilled workforce capable of driving Tanzania’s development agenda.

Dr Nchemba made the remarks over the weekend while laying the foundation stone for the Tanzania Institute of Accountancy (TIA) academic building at the institution’s Singida Campus during his working tour.

He said the project reflects the government’s commitment under President Samia Suluhu Hassan to improve higher education facilities and bring quality tertiary education closer to citizens.

“The construction of this academic building in Singida is a major achievement. I congratulate the board, management and students. We wish you every success,” he said.

The Prime Minister added that investment in higher education infrastructure remains central to the government’s strategy of developing competent professionals equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to support socio-economic transformation.

He also commended local engineers, consultants and contractors involved in the project, saying their participation reflects the growing capacity of Tanzanians to implement major development projects.

“I am pleased that the engineers constructing this building are Tanzanians because President Samia directed that we must build an economy owned by Tanzanians while strengthening the local private sector alongside foreign investment,” he said.

Deputy Minister for Finance, Engineer Mshamu Ali Munde, said the government continues to prioritise higher education through sustained investment in universities and colleges to expand access and improve teaching and learning environments.

He said the investments are also aimed at strengthening research, innovation, and the application of technology, while producing graduates with the skills required to implement the country’s development agenda.

Eng Munde added that the Ministry of Finance will continue allocating resources to high-impact public projects, including infrastructure development at the Tanzania Institute of Accountancy, to improve service delivery and support long-term national development goals.
