DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzanian government has collected 221.9bn/- in dividend from Twiga-Barrick, the highest amount the government collected from its public institutions for the 2025/26 period.
Tanzania has collected a total of 1.02tri/- from its public institutions and companies in which it holds shareholdings as of June 29, 2026, this year, marking a 30 per cent increase from collected during the same period last year.

This was revealed today, June 30, 2026, during the National Dividend Day ceremony held at the State House in Dar es Salaam, where President Samia Suluhu Hassan was the Chief Guest.
The Tanzanian government’s shareholding deal with Barrick is through Twiga Minerals Corporation, and that partnership facilitated the firm to provide 221,907,320,687/- to the Tanzanian government.
During the Dividend Day celebrations, Twiga-Barrick’s resident Manager, Dr Melkiory Ngido handed over a 221.9bn/- dummy cheque to PresIdent Samia at the State House in Dar es Salaam.
President Samia hailed the company’s contribution and said it helped bolster the economy and investment for the benefits of the country and its citizens.
This year’s amount Twiga-Barrick provided to the government is far superior to that of the 2024/25 season when the government received 99.6bn/-.

In 2022/23 Twiga-Barrick also claimed number one position after providing 84bn/- to the government, according to Dr Ngido.
Before the 2022/23 season,he Tanzanian government received a 53bn/-in dividend from the mining firm.
