DAR ES SALAAM: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed and transferred several senior government officials, including the appointment of Dr Latifa Mohammed Khamis as Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Vice President’s Office responsible for Union Affairs.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Secretary, Ambassador Dr Moses Kusiluka, Dr Khamis was appointed to the position from the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TANTRADE), where she had been serving as Director General.
In the latest changes, Prisca Burton Lwangili has been appointed Deputy Permanent Secretary in the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance. Before her appointment, she served as Director of Administration and Human Resources Management in the Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG).
President Samia also transferred Mr Abdallah Hassan Mitawi from the Vice President’s Office to serve as Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, while Ambassador Baraka Haran Luvanda has been moved from the same office to become Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Constitutional and Legal Affairs.

In addition, Dr Franklin Jasson Wrezemula has been transferred from the Ministry of Constitutional and Legal Affairs to serve as Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Dr Maduhu Isaac Kazi has also been moved from the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Vice President’s Office, where he will serve as Deputy Permanent Secretary responsible for Environment.
In another appointment, Mr Ephrain Balozi Mafuru has been named Director General of the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TANTRADE). He takes over the position after serving as Director General of the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB).
The Chief Secretary also announced that the remaining vacant positions of Deputy Permanent Secretaries will be filled at a later date.
