ZANZIBAR: ACT-Wazalendo has called on Tanzanians to embrace dialogue and peaceful engagement in resolving political differences, saying negotiations remain the best path towards building national unity and stability.
The party’s National Secretary for Information, Publicity and Public Communications, Salim Bimani, said the recent developments in reconciliations in Zanzibar demonstrate that even deep political disagreements can be resolved through constructive conversations and mutual understanding.
“This shows that whenever there are differences, the best way forward is through dialogue. We had major disagreements during the elections, but we sat down and talked for eight months, and today we have reached an agreement based on those discussions,” he said.
Moreover, he urged all parties to ensure that the commitments reached are fully implemented, calling on Tanzanians to embrace a culture of sitting together and discussing issues affecting the nation.

Mr Bimani said opposition parties must adopt a broader national perspective, noting that political competition should not prevent stakeholders from coming together for the common good.
“Whatever happens, eventually we will return to the table. This is a major step because we have been able to sit together, discuss and reach an understanding,” he said.
He appealed to Tanzanians to support dialogue as a foundation for resolving conflicts, warning that continued confrontation and violence would prevent the country from achieving its desired political and social progress.
“We cannot reach where we want to be if we continue fighting every day or hurting each other. The future we seek requires us to build a system based on dialogue and agreement,” he said.
